So this is the JBL Easy Sing mic system. Now JBL has 2 versions of this product, there’s this version which I prefer cause they are actual microphones, plus they have longer battery lives, and then there’s the easy sing mic mini which are smaller, and as a result they have a shorter battery life, and if you want to use them as actual microphones then you have to use their attachments. But regardless today we’re going to check out the JBL Easy Sing mics and were going to compare them to the JBL Partybox Mics, the Sony ULT mics and a standard wired mic as well.
Regarding pricing, the JBL easy sing mics have a retail price of $200, where as the Easy sing mic mini system has a retail price of $180, which again I find so odd cause I think the bigger version is better cause of the ergonomics and battery. But for comparison sake, the JBL Partybox Mic system has a retail price of $170 as well as the Sony ULT power Mics, and then you have your standard wired mic which can go for as low as $20. So first, what are the JBL Easy sing mics, this is a wireless microphone system that you can plug into your JBL speaker. This system comes with a total of 2 mic phones, and a USB C dongle that you can plug into your speaker’s USB C port. And this system will work with your JBL Partybox Encore 2, Partybox On The Go 2, or to a Partybox 520 or 720 cause all of these Partybox’s have a USB C port. But the really cool thing is, this USB dongle also comes with a USB A adapter… so you can still use this system with either your JBL Partybox 120 or 320, all you have to do is update your speaker’s software.
And using this system is super easy, all you have to do is plug in your dongle and power on your mics, and you’re good to go. And tho adjust your Mic’s sound settings, you can do that through your Partybox menu, you can adjust the bass, treble or add an echo if you want.
Now, you can also use this easy sing mic with any of JBL’s newer speakers that have a USB Port like lets say a Boombox 4, an Xtreme 5, or a charge 6… but before you plug in the USB dongle, first you press and hold the play button, and then you’ll hear a chime. Now you’ll still be able to hear your mic… however you’re not going to be able to adjust the sound of this mic like you can with a partybox, and also there is a slight echo. But overall, I think its cool that you can connect a mic to either the Boombox 4 or Xtreme 5 now… however I think this system is going to be better used with a Partybox.
Now when it comes to battery life, the mic themselves have a battery life of 10 hours… and with the USB Dongle, there is no battery life cause it just runs off of your speaker. And to charge these mics, they charge via a USB C port on the bottom, however this system does not come included with a USB C cable which is the norm or JBL now. Not great. But this is actually one of the big reasons why I prefer this system over the mini system, the mini system has a battery life of 6 hours.
Now, the biggest feature of the easy sing mic system is that this system has an AI vocal removal tool, which works like this.

So like you may have just seen, the AI vocal removal toll is very impressive. Now this tool will work with most languages out there, so if you’re playing music in English, Spanish, Portuguese, in Hindi or in Tagalog, your aunties, tias, titi’s or whatever are going to love it. However, this AI vocal removal toll does have some limitations. The most important limitiaon to keep in mind here is, if you have these mics plugged into your Partybox, Boombox 4, or Xtreme 5… you will not be able to turn on aura cast, so you won’t be able to pair your speakers together.
However, the hack that I have is, you can plug in your easy sing system into your partybox, you can then daisy chain your partybox to any other speaker… and then this way, both of your speakers are going to play your audio without the lyrics… and your mic audio will come out of both speakers. And if you have a third or fourth partybox, you can also daisy chain them together and you can get all of them to play your music without the lyrics, and your mic audio will be broadcasted through all of your speakers.
Where as with the JBL Partybox Mics… this mic system plugs into your Partybox’s 3 quarter inch input. Now you can still use aura cast with your speaker if you were to plug this mic into your speaker… however if you were to try the daisy chain trick that I just told you, your mic audio will only come out of your single speaker where the dongle is plugged in.
Now for those wondering, yes, you can plug in an easy sing mic system and a partybox mic system into your partybox… and you can actual have a total of 4 wireless microphones working… plus you still have an additional quarter inch input so if you want you can still plug in more mics or a guitar.
Now when it comes to sound quality, I do think the Easy sing mics sound a little better, cause with this mic they don’t sound as bright as the Partybox Mic. But the really important thing here is, both of these JBL mics do a really good job of focusing on just your voice cause they have a very tight cardioid pattern, so they aren’t going to pick up too much noise pollution.
Also both of these microphones do a really good job of not picking up all that much tapping when you’re handling these mics.
Where as if we were to do the same thing with a wired mic, this wired mic is going to pick up a lot more noise pollution when you’re just handling this mic, plus you also have the wire which is going to pick up more noise pollution as well. And also, this cardioid pick up pattern isn’t as tight, so it is going to pick up noticeably more noise pollution as well.
And with the Sony ULT mics, these also like to pick up noise pollution when you handle them and they also don’t have a super tight cardioid pick up pattern, so these can also pick up some noise pollution around you.
Overall, the JBL easy sing mics sound really good, and they also sound fuller than the JBL Partybox Mic cause they like to leans more towards a slightly brighter sound signature. But both of JBL’s mics do a really good job of just picking up your voice and they both do a really good job of rejecting noise polluting when you’re handling them.
But there is another important upgrade that I do want to point out about the JBL Easy Sing mic compared to the JBL Partybx Mic, and that’s going to be the power button. With the easy sing mics, the power button is on the bottom, where as with the JBL Partybox Mics, the power button on the front. And having the power button on the front was a huge problem cause people would accidentally routinely turn off the mic, which as the family tech support is extremely annoying. But now since the power button is on the bottom, its not as big of an issue.
So with all of that being said, the JBL Easy sing mic system is very imrepssive. You can add an AI vocal removal tool to your partybox, and you can also add a wireless mic to your Boombox 4, Xtreme 5 or Charge 6. But I still think the Boombox 4 should have a quarter inch input so that you can plug in a more affordable wired mic. But regardless, the Easy sing mics sound good and better than other mics out there cause they have a tight cardioid pick up pattern, and they don’t collect too much noise pollution… and my hack, if you were to use this system with a partybox and then daisy chain your speakers together… then you can get your audio playing trough multiple speakers. Just keep in mind that if you plug in the easy sing mics in your speaker, then you can’t turn on Aura cast.
