So this is the Soundcore Boom 3i, now a few weeks ago we reviewed the Soundcore Rave 3S and I absolutely love that speaker cause its an amazing karaoke machine right out of the box, and I really like the Soundcore Boom 3i cause this is a phenomenal rugged speaker for the outdoors which has some cool new features that are actually super useful. So today we’re going to check out the Soundcore Boom 3i.

So first theres sound, the Soundcore Boom 3i is a 50 watt speaker with a frontward firing woofer, a frontward firing tweeter and dual passive radiators that shoot out the sides. And the fact that this speaker has a woofer and a tweeter set up is a big deal cause this is going to help with your instrument separation and openess cause the woofer is going to handle the mids and the tweeter is going to handle the highs, like this.

So like you may have just seen, the woofer handles the mids and the tweeter handles the highs, so this is going to help your speaker just sound more open. But also through soundcore’s app you can go in and choose from a few premade EQ’s or you can make your own… so you can make this speaker sound however you like. Now personally I like to use this speaker with its signature soundcore EQ, but more importantly the Boom 3i does have its bass up 2.0 which is going to increase your bass, but vocals are still well defined. But now we’re going to jump into a sound test. We’re going to be using this speaker at 75% volume, with its Soundcore Signature EQ and we’re going to cycle between Bass UP 2.0 turned on and off.

So like you may have just heard, the Soundcore Boom 3i sounds well balanced and when you have Bass UP 2.0 turned on, you’re going to have more bass. But more importantly, thanks to the Woofer and tweeter set up on this speaker, the Soundcore Boom 3i has better instrument separation and sounds more open than its predecessors that were using a dual woofer set up.
But then theres max volume performance on this speaker, the Soundcore Boom 3i gets impressively loud for its size and at max volume I feel that its going to be good for like an 8 person get together. But more importantly, this speaker gets decently loud for out door use. Overall the Soundcore Boom 3i is a very good sounding and performing speaker… but more importantly thanks to its new woofer and tweeter set up, this speaker has better instrument separation and better openness than its predecessors.
But what really makes the Soundcore Boom 3i is just how rugged this speaker is. First off this speaker has a super hard plastic body all around, the Boom 3i also has an IP68 ratting which means its dust proof, its very drop resistant, its water proof and its even salt water resistant. But the really cool thing about this speaker is, yes its water proof and its even corrosion proof so saltwater isn’t going to be an issue for this speaker… but its actually one of the first speakers out there that floats right side up and its stays right side up, so you can just leave this speaker floating in the pool and you’re still going to be able to hear your music.
So in general, the Soundcore boom 3i is a very durable and portable small sized speaker, so its great to take on the go with you… but also this speaker does come included with a shoulder strap, that you can easily attach. Now even though this speaker is already very small and you can easily carry it in your backpack’s water bottle holder… the included shoulder strap just gives you another super easy option for carrying this speaker… and you can also use this shoulder strap to attach this speaker or hang this speaker from something. Overall just making this already super rugged speaker more portable and versatile.
But also, the Soundcore Boom 3i isn’t just a great speaker for the out doors, its also a great speaker for at home use or camping thanks to its built in light feature. And I think this light feature on this very small speaker is very impressive cause its very dynamic and bright, and though Soundcore’s app you can choose from a few different lighting modes and you can even customize these light features.
But also, the Soundcore Boom 3i does have some extra features that are really good for the outdoors. Now first theres the voce amplifier where you can speak into your phone and thats going to be broadcasted through the speaker… I think this is great if you’re camping with the family and you want to let everyone know that lunch is ready, there’s also an emergency alarm, and there’s even a cleaning mode where the passive radiators are going to vibrate any sand that you might have stuck in them.
And when it comes to battery life, the Soudncore Boom 3i has an advertised battery life of 16 hours, but thats with this speaker playing at 50% volume, with the light feature turned off and with the bass up feature turned off… but real world use with this speaker playing at 80% volume and with the bass up feature turned on and the light feature turned on, for me this speaker has been good for 6 hours of playback time… but if you want you can extend the battery life on this speaker by turning off the light feature.
And to charge this speaker it charges via a USB C port, so you can use your phone’s charger to charge this speaker, however this USB C port is strictly used for charnging the speaker. And when it comes to Bluetooth connectivity, this speaker can be connected to 2 devices at the same time so you and a friend can both be DJ and latency is not an issue for this speaker so you can use it to watch videos with on your phone.
And finally lets talk about pairing this speaker with other speakers, now if you have two of the same exact same speaker then you can pair them up and get them to play in left and right stereo mode so your music is going to be louder and its going to sound more open… but also this speaker is using party cast 2.0 so you can pair it up to other Soundcore speakers that are also using Partycast 2.0 like the Soundcore Boom 2 or soundcore boom 2 plus and get them to play in sync.
But with all of that being said, the Soundcore Boom 3i is a great rugged speaker to consider especially if you’re looking for a speaker for the out doors. First off this speaker sounds great thanks to its woofer and tweeter set up which helps with instrument separation and it helps make this speaker sound more open. But also, this speaker has some amazing features for the out doors, its super rugged, its water proof and its corrosion proof and it also floats in water. But it just doesn’t float in water… it stays right side up so you can still hear your music if this speaker is floating in the pool. Its also very easy to take on the go with you and versatile cause its small but it also has a shoulder strap so you can easily hang it from something. And even though this speaker is super rugged, its still looks great thanks to its built in light feature. Overall, the Soundcore Boom 3i is a great companion for the outdoors that going to have no problem keeping up with you.
