So first theres the active noise cancelation on these earbuds. Now soundcore’s active noise cancelation has always been very impressive on both their earbuds and headphones. And the Liberty 5’s are using soundcore’s new Adaptive ANC 3.0 which constantly recalibrates its self every 0.3 seconds to make sure that its always blocking out the most amount of noise possible. But the biggest upgrade here is that the Liberty 5’s now do twice a better job of blocking out people’s voices when compared to the Liberty 4 NC’s. Now most earbuds and headphones should have no problem blocking constant low frequency sounds like road noise, but what makes ANC earbuds great is being being able to block out random higher frequency sounds like chatter.
So the liberty 5’s are going to be great for your bus ride commute to work or school, but they are also going to have no problem blocking out chatter if you’re walking through the bus terminal, or if you’re trying to study while in cafeteria or if youre just trying to enjoy break while in a cafe. And these earbuds also have a good sounding ambient mode which is great for walking out doors and their microphone array does a really good job of blocking out wind noise when walking out doors.
But then theres sound, now the soundcore Liberty 5’s are the first soundcore earbuds to feature Dolby Sound, so they’re going to be able to deliver a 3D surround sound experience, plus these earbuds have support for SBC, AAC and LDAC which is Sony’s high res audio codec, which is going to deliver more data, which is going to give you higher resolution audio, however in order to use LDAC you do have to be an android user, but nonetheless these earbuds still sound really good whether you’re using SBC or AAC.
But more importantly, the soundcore liberty 5’s are able to deliver a lot of bass thanks to their 9.2 millimeter drivers, but they are also able to deliver pronounced and detailed mids and highs. So as a result these earbuds deliver a dynamic listening experience cause they have very strong vocals, but the bass is also able to come in very strong when it has to.
And when it comes to your media controls, these earbuds have these stems that you can squeeze. And from here you can play or pause your music, you can skip through your music and you can squeeze and hold to cycle between your ANC settings. And also you can set them as a shutter button for your camera if you want. And also these earbuds do have wear sensors so they will automatically play and pause your music if you take them out of your ears, and this is a big deal cause there are plenty of earbuds out there in this price range that dont have wear sensors.
And also, these earbuds have a very good sounding microphone on them to take phone calls with. Now the Liberty 5’s have a total of 6 microphones and they are using AI to block out noise pollution. And in a quiet room, these earbuds sound pretty good.
But also, these earbuds do a really good job of blocking out noise pollution, cause right now these earbuds a doing a good job of reducing all of this road noise cause for comparison sake, if we were to switch over to my lapel microphone, you’re going to clearly hear all of this road noise, but if we were to switch back over to the soudncore liberty 5’s it is severely reduced.
And these earbuds also do a good job of reducing chatter, cause again, if we were to switch over to my lapel microphone, you’re going to hear all of this chatter, but if we were to switch back over to the soundcore Liberty 5’s, it is severely reduced. So overall, the microphone on these earbuds is great to take phone calls whether you’re in a quiet room, or if youre in a noise environment.
And finally theres just the case and battery life on these earbuds, which is also very impressive. So first off, this case is decently small so its a great option for every day carry cause its not super noticeable while its in your pocket. But the thing that I really like about this case is that it has a slight slate and texture feel to it, making it very easy too actually handle this case. And I also like the way that this lid slides up and down. Now this case charges via a USB C port, which is what we expect, but also, this case does have wireless charging, which is also a big deal cause there are plenty of other earbuds out there in this price range that dont have wireless changing.
And when it comes to battery life, these earbuds have a combined battery life of 48 hours with their ANC turned off, the earbuds themselves can go for 12 hours and the case can supply an additional 3 full charges. And with their ANC turned on, these earbuds have a combined battery life of 32 hours, the earbuds can go for 8 hours plus those 3 charges from the case.
But overall, these earbuds dont just have a long battery life even with their ANC turned on… they also have a lot of stamina, making them a great option if you’re someone that works retail or if you’re a driver cause these earbuds can go for up to 12 hours on a single charge.
But with all of that being said, the soundcore liberty 5 are a solid pair of affordable earbuds that block out a lot noise, but more importantly they block out twice as much chatter as their predecessors. They also offer a dynamic listening experience with strong vocals and deep bass, they also have a great microphone for phone calls and they also have very solid battery life and the earbuds themselves have great stamina.
