Powerbeats Pro 2: https://geni.us/GC-PowerbeatsPro2

If you’re looking for a pair of earbuds to workout with, then the Powerbeats Pro 2 are a super popular option. They have ear hooks so they are going to give you great lockdown, they have physical buttons which is great if you’re sweaty, and they even have built in heart rate monitors. But personally im not the biggest fan of the Powerbeats pro 2, but today we’re going to compare them to the Soundcore Aerofit 2 Pro which I feel are a great alternative to the Powerbeats pro 2, and maybe you’ll like them too.

Regarding pricing, the Powerbeats pro 2 have a retail price of $250, which is up there for a pair of workout earbuds. Where as the soundcore areofit 2 pro have a retail price of $180 but they do like to go on sale for around $150. And personally, I feel that that’s a much better price for a pair of workout earbuds. Nonetheless if you want to pick either of these earbuds up they’ll be linked down below, or you can always press on the YouTube shopping button, and if you want to further support the channel then you can always watch some of the related videos in the description down below.

Now first we need to talk about these cases, now since both of these earbuds have ear hooks, then their cases are going to be much larger than lets say the AirPods Pro 3, the AirPods Pro 2, or AirPods 4 cases. So with both of these cases, they are going to be very noticeable when they are in your pocket. But if you’ve got a gym bag, their cases are not going to be a problem. But just as you’d except, both of these cases charge via a USB C port like they should and they both have wireless charging.

Now when it comes to battery life, the Powerbeats pro 2 out match the soudncore aerofit 2 pro. The Powerbeats pro 2 have an advertised combined battery life of 45 hours with their active noise cancelation turned off. the earbuds can get you 10 straight hours and the case can supply 3 and a half additional charges. And with their ANC turned on, they have an advertised combined battery life of 36 hours, the earbuds themselves can go for 8 hours plus those 3 and a half additional charges. Overall, the Powerbeats pro 2 are going to be able to go through multiple workout sessions between charges, with or without ANC turned on… and they have really good stamina which is going to be super important either if you are a marathon runner… or if you’re someone that works retail or if you drive, then these can keep up with you on a single charge.

Where as with the Aerofit 2 Pro these have an advertised combined battery life of 34 hours with their active noise cancelation turned off… the earbuds themselves can go for 7 hours straight, plus the case can supply almost 4 complete charges. And with their active noise cancelation turned on, these have an advertised combined battery life of 24 hours, the earbuds can go for 5 straight hours and the almost 4 complete charges from the case. Now the aerofit 2 pro are also going to be able to go through multiple workout sessions on a single charge, but the Powerbeats Pro 2 do have more battery.

But now lets talk about the earbuds themselves. Now when it comes to fit, both of these earbuds have ear hooks, so they are both going to give you amazing lockdown and no matter how hard you try, these earbuds are not going anywhere. Now yes, there are other earbuds out there that might have ear fins, so they are smaller and less noticeable… but there are some people that just like ear hook superiority. And both of these earbuds are very flexible, they covered in silicon and they are adjustable, so they should fit most people. However, with the Powerbeats Pro 2, these are in ear earbuds, and they are standard fitting in ear earbuds at that, meaning that they will go into your ear canals. Where as with the Soundcore Aerofit 2 pro, these earbuds just fit in the bowl of your ear, like lets say the AirPods 4. So with the aerofit 2 pro, these earbuds are just a lot more comfortable because they don’t feel intrusive like the Powerbeats Pro 2. However, unlike the Powerbeats Pro 2, the aerofit 2 pro aren’t going to passively block out all that much noise like the in ear earbuds on the Powerbeats Pro 2. Also the Powerbeats pro 2 are going to give you added lockdown. But personally for me, I prefer none in ear earbuds like the Aerofit 2 pro especially when im working out cause you get less sweat in your ears.

But also, something really cool about the Aerofit 2 pro is that you can also use them like a pair of open earbuds if you swing them all the way up. And I feel that this is great for when you’re working out outside or if you’re on a hike cause you’re going to be able to be aware of all of your surroundings. And its also a comfort thing, maybe you just like open earbuds in certain situations. Now with the Powerbeats pro 2, you can also be aware of your surroundings if you just switch them over to their transparency mode… but you can’t use them like a pair of open earbuds like you can with the Aerofit 2 pro.

But another feature that the Powerbeats pro 2 have over the Aerofit 2 pro is that they have built in heart rate monitors… but personally I think the heart rate monitor on the Powerbeats pro 2 are pointless, especially if you already have an apple watch. Honestly I think I would like to see a version of the Powerbeats 2’s without heart rate monitors if it means you get a discount.

But nonetheless, both of these earbuds have active noise cancelation… now don’t expect the ANC on these earbuds to block out as much noise as a pair of over ear headphones like the Sony XM6’s or XM5’s or Bose QC Ultra headphones 2… but when it comes to ANC rankings… the AirPods Pro 3 are number one, followed by the AirPods Pro 2, right below them are the Powerbeats pro 2… below them are the AirPods 4 and below them are the Soundcore Areo Fit 2 pro. Overall, the ANC on both of these earbuds is going to be able to block out your gym’s music… but the powerbeats pro 2 are going to block out more noise than the Aerofit 2 Pro.

But over all, when it comes to the overall fit of these earbuds, both of these earbuds are going to give you better lock down than the majority of other earbuds out there thanks to the ear hooks. And both of these ear hooks are very flexible and adjustable so they should be able to fit most people just fine. But personally I do prefer the fit of the aerofit 2 pro over the powerbeats pro 2 cause they don’t go into your ear canals like the powerbeats pro 2, making them more comfortable. Now, no they don’t passively block out noise like the Powerbeats Pro 2, but to me it doesn’t really matter. But also with the Aerofit 2 pro, if you want you can also swing them up and use them like a pair of open earbuds, which can be super useful if you’re working or exercising outdoors. With the aerofit 2 pro, its like having 2 pair of earbuds in your pocket.

Now when it comes to the connectivity of these earbuds, each earbud establishes a connection with your phone,. So if you just want to use one earbud at a time you can use either one, it doesn’t matter, and this is the connection setup that we expect. But with the powerbeats pro 2, since these are using Apple’s H2 chip, they will automatically be paired with all of your apple devices associated to your apple account so you can easily hot swap between your apple devices associated to your iCloud account. But even if you’re an android user, they’ll still connect to your phone without any issues as well.

But with the Aerofit 2 pro, these can be connected to any two bluetooth devices regardless of eco system. So these are going to be better suited for someone that likes to hot swap between an iPhone and a pc on a regular basis. Now latency is not an issue for either of these two earbuds so you can use them to watch videos with on your phone, no problem… and when it comes to audio codecs, both of these earbuds have support for SBC and AAC, but the Aerofit 2 pro also have support for LDAC, which is sony’s high res audio codec. But in order to use LDAC you do have to be an android user cause iPhones top out at AAC… which I feel it fine.

now lets talk about actually listening to music with these earbuds. So just as you’d expect, the Powerbeats pro 2 are going to sound a lot better than the original Powerbeats pro which are like 7 years old now. They sound more open and crisp. And a major difference between these earbuds and both the Beats Fit Pro and the Beats Studio Buds Plus is that they have an adaptive EQ. And both the Powerbeats Pro 2 and the Beats Studio Buds Plus have spatial audio. However, im not the biggest fan of how the Powerbeats pro 2 sound… now for context the AirPods 4 have been my daily drivers and workout earbuds since October 2024 and before that I was using the AirPods Pro 2’s as my daily drivers. My issue with the Powerbeats Pro 2 is that they dont sound as open as either AirPods, their highs are a little too emphasized, and they bass doesn’t hit as hard as either the AirPods Pro 2 or AirPods 4. And I’ve played around with different ear tips and if used them with their spatial audio turned on and off. Now dont get me wrong, the Powerbeats Pro 2 sound good, but I still prefer the sound coming out of either the AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4. Their bass is richer, they sound more balanced and they sound more open.

But then there are the Aerofit 2 Pro, and these earbuds do like to lean towards a brighter sound signature, as in they put an emphasis on the mids and highs… but their bass also resonates more than the powerbeats pro 2… doesn’t resonate more than AirPods… but it resonates a good amount. But I also feel that these earbuds lean towards a birther sound signature cause you need it when they are in their open earbud mode… and when these earbuds are in their open earbud mode, they do automatically adjust their EQ… but overall if do prefer the more dynamic sound signature coming out of the Aerofit 2 Pro.

Now when it comes to the media controls on these earbuds, both earbuds have physical buttons… which is great for when you’re working out… but the Powerbeats Pro 2 are more robust cause they have dedicated volume rockers on both earbuds… where as with the aerofit 2 pro, you have to press and hold… which isn’t as good. But something that is missing on the aerofit 2 pro are wear sensors, so they aren’t going to automatically pause your music when you take them out… which I do feel is unfortunate.

Mic Aerofit Quiet

But finally here’s the microphone test, and overall both of these earbuds have good sounding microphones on them for phone calls.

Mic Powerbeats quiet

And honestly, this isn’t too surprising cause both apple and soundcore have been doing very well when it comes to their microphones for phone calls. However, while in a quiet room, I do feel that the powerbeats pro 2 have better clarity.

Mic powerbeats road noise

And when it comes to noise pollution, both of these earbuds are doing a good job of dealing with this road noise, cause for comparison sake, if we were to switch over to my lapel microphone, you’re going to clealery hear all of this road noise, but if we were to switch back over to the Powerbeats pro 2, it is severely reduced.

Mic Aerofit Road Noise

Now the Aerofit 2 Pro are also doing a good job of dealing with this noise pollution… but I think the Powerbeats Pro 2 again have better clarity.

Mic Aerofit Chatter

And it the same thing when it comes to blocking out chatter, the Soudncore Aerofit 2 Pro are doing a decent job of dealing with this noise pollution…

Mic Powerbeats Chatter

But the Powerbeats pro 2 do have better clarity to them, cause again for comparison sake, if we were to switch over to my lapel microphone, you’re going to clealery hear all of this chatter, but if we were to switch back over to the Powerbeats pro 2, it is severely reduced. So overall, both of these microphones are good for phone calls and they both do a good job of dealing with noise pollution… but I do feel the Powerbeats pro 2 have a better performing mic.

But with all of that being said, I feel that if you’re looking for a pair of earbuds to workout with, then I personally recommend that you checkout the Soundcore Aerofit 2 pro. Just like the Powerbeats pro 2, these earbuds have ear hooks, so they are going to offer you lots of lock down. But more importantly, the Aerofit 2 pro are more comfortable than the Powerbeats pro 2 cause they don’t actually go into your ear canals and if you want you can use them in their open mode. So they’re going to be even more comfortable and you can hear your surroundings. These earbuds also have active noise cancellation and they have a decent sounding microphone for phone calls. I think these are great for the gym. However with the Powerbeats Pro 2, these earbuds do have a longer lasting battery, they also have better active noise cancellation, they have built in heart rate monitors, and they have a better sounding mic for phones calls… but you are going to have to pay a premium for them.
