So the both the JBL Flip 6 And JBL Charge 5 are two great sounding speakers from JBL that both got a significant speaker set up upgrade. Specifically, both the Flip 6 and Charge 5 are now packing dedicated tweeters which helps them with their instrument separation. However, there is a middle child here that we need to address, and that is the JBL Pulse 4. Now the Pulse 4 looks amazing… but definitely don’t pick this speaker up is sound quality is your main concern.

So the JBL Flip 6 truly is a great little bluetooth speaker. Thanks to its new speaker set up which consists of a pair of dual passive radiators, a woofer, and a tweeter… the flip 6 really does sound great in a very compact package. Now even though the JBL Flip 6 isn’t a HUGE upgrade from the JBL Flip 5… the additional tweeter on the Flip 6 does help it sound more open. And in general… tweeters on a portable 20 watt bluetooth speaker are pretty rare. But today we’re going to compare the Flip 6 to two very popular 20 watt speakers. First there’s the Bose Soundlink flex which is just universally loved right now… and then there’s the Sony XB23… which is a really good budget option. This is the JBL Flip 6, now at first glance you’d be safe to assume that this is just a redesign with a new huge JBL logo on the front to spice things up. But in reality, there’s a lot going on under this logo. Specifically, JBL added a new tweeter to the Flip 6… just like the Charge 5. And right now, the Charge 5 is my favorite sounding mid sized speaker.
